The Northern Lights Triathlon Club is proud to present the 2017 Local Race on Sunday June 25th. This event is for ages 16+. Ages 16-21 Race Free!
For new triathletes this will be a fun and supportive environment for your first sprint race, while experienced racers can use this as a warm up for their season and, of course, a year's worth of bragging rights for the winner. You can compete in this race as an individual or as a relay team of 2-3 participants. Registering for the race also allows you to attend our swim practices Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings for free until race day.
RACE COURSE: This year's race will feature a pool-swim at MacDonald Island Park, followed by a 20km bike ride to Parson's Creek (up Parson's overpass), and a 5km run in Parson's Creek. Transition 2 and the Finish will be at the spray/skateboard park on Heritage Drive in Parson’s Creek. See below for more course details and maps.

OTHER INFO: Due to the road damage in Anzac during the fire of 2016, we have decided to move the local triathlon into Fort McMurray for 2017. We plan to return to our Western Canada Summer Games course in Anzac in 2018. This race will not be wetsuit legal as we will be in the pool. Athletes are responsible to bring their own gear including goggles, bike, bike helmet (ANSI or SNELL approved), and running shoes. Swim caps will be provided by the race organization to all participants. Registrants will be provided with a labeled bag for their swim gear to leave at Transition 1. This bag will be transported to the Finish Line to pick up at the end of the race. All gear left in T1 MUST be in the athlete's labeled bag.
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
VOLUNTEERS:
If you would like to volunteer, or have a friend/family member that can volunteer while you race, please sign up here!! We need 30 volunteers to run this event, all the help we can get is appreciated!!

Bike Course
Run Course
See the 2017 Run Course above. Runners will exit Transition 2 heading east along the paved path, and then head north to join Comfort Cove. Runners will continue straight north on Heritage Drive, then turn right on the paved path towards the storm ponds. Runners will complete 2 laps of the full circumference circle (see map above) - in a clockwise direction going around both storm ponds and the playground. The last loop is a smaller lap of only the playground. Runners will then head back along the paved path to Heritage Drive, and follow the same residential route back to the skate park for the Finish Line.
